baptism

Jesus saves us through his life, death and resurrection. We come to him as we are; problems,

mistakes, regrets, and he forgives us and saves us. Our response is to believe and be baptized.

Baptism is a response to the salvation found only in Jesus. We name it, declare it, and die with

Him to be raised anew. An end and a new beginning. Available for all, a response to Jesus'

invitation to 'come follow me', — believe and be baptized.

Why be baptized? We are joined with Christ.

For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Galatians 3:27

We are Baptized into the church

There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. Ephesians 4:4-6

We experience an end, and a new beginning

Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. Romans 6:3-4

What does baptism look like?

Jesus, our example

Then Jesus came from Galilee to the Jordan to be baptized by John. But John tried to deter him, saying, "I need to be baptized by you, and do you come to me?" Jesus replied, "Let it be so now; it is proper for us to do this to fulfill all righteousness.” Matthew 3:13-17

Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit." John 3:5

How are we baptized?

Water, available easily and accessible for all (Original New Testament Greek word 'Baptizo’, means ‘to plunge.’)

As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, "Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized?" Acts 8:36

Our response

Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20
