To influence people to know and be like Jesus.
back to topTo seek to apply God’s Word and live out the purposes of the church in community through our “SMALL GROUPS” ministry. We believe the “SMALL GROUPS” model of the New Testament church, where believers met regularly in homes in small groups to experience true community, worship, discipleship, evangelism and to serve one another and the community around them. The church grows through the healthy multiplication of these small groups.
back to topTo deepen authentic relationships and cultivate community through small groups.
To celebrate God and love Him first in our lives.
To proclaim God’s forgiveness and multiply healthy small groups through personal and team evangelism.
To reproduce fully devoted followers of Christ through self-study, anointed teaching and mentoring.
To equip believers to serve with joy.
back to topIn the early 90’s Olivet Memorial Church in Brockton had a vision to plant a new church in the area. They began to pray for the leading of God in that direction. Enter Rob Reimer, who felt a call to Brockton, MA to plant a new church. Rob joined with vision and they began to plan this new church plant. A core group was formed of people who were also on board with this mission. In 1994 Rob began the first cell group with his wife, Jen, and six others from the mother church, Olivet. Together they developed community, and shared God’s love with their friends who didn’t know Jesus.
After a year and a half the first cell multiplied into two groups. At this stage the cells were still meeting with Olivet on Sundays. As the group of people grew under Pastor Rob’s leadership the group decided to take a risk and try to begin the first Sunday services of SSCC with two full time staff members. They also focused on the development of cell groups. In October 1995 there were 2 cells with 23 people and SSCC launched its first worship service. Forty eight people attended that service.
Since then cells have continued to multiply, people have trusted Christ and the church has continued to grow. Today there around 30 adult cells across the South Shore, with just under 350 people attending those cells, 6 teen cells with about 70 teens attending, and approximately 100 kids in our children’s church on Sunday mornings.
In December 2006, SSCC planted a satellite church location back at Olivet, the original mother church which closed its doors. The Brockton Campus will continue to minister to people in the city of Brockton and the surrounding area.
