Steps to Freedom

The Steps to Freedom in Christ (Neil T. Anderson) is a process that helps people claim the promise of freedom that Christ offers to all who come in His name. It is a spiritual inventory that helps identify and break free from condemning thoughts and compulsive behaviors.  These thoughts cause personal and relational conflicts, spiritual struggle and despair which leads to bondage.  The Steps to Freedom in Christ is a comprehensive workshop to help people resolve these issues and walk in the freedom that Christ died to give them.  When going through the workshop, it is best to come with someone who can continue to journey with you on your walk.

Baby Dedications

image
Twice a year, South Shore Community Church celebrates the dedication of the little ones in our congregation. A baby dedication is recognition by the parents in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. The ceremony is an act of faith and declaration of intent that calls to mind the presentation of Jesus in the temple by Mary and Joseph. This ceremony differs from baptism which comes at a time when a person reaches an age of understanding and accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior on his or her own. When there is a baby dedication ceremony, we join in prayer corporately for the spiritual growth and well being of the children being dedicated.

Parents are asked to attend a one-time dedication class prior to the dedication to ensure a full understanding of their commitment as parents and to ask any questions about what it means to dedicate their child.

The next SSCC baby dedication will take place in the fall of 2011, please check back soon for the exact date.

Baptism Celebration and Church Picnic

Baptism is a believer’s witness to others of an inner transformation caused by Jesus Christ. Both adults and children may be baptized but it can only occur when a person reaches an age of understanding and willingly accepts Jesus as Lord and Savior. When a person desires to be baptized, he/she will attend a class to determine his/her understanding of the meaning and purpose of baptism. At South Shore Community Church, baptism takes place once a year and is implemented by total immersion in a pool of water. This action, along with the words, “I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit”, symbolizes that the person has been raised from spiritual death and is entering into a new life. Go to the event calendar to sign up for this year’s baptism.
