Being a part of the Ignite! ministry has been a great experience for me personally. I teach in the kindergarten class and watching these kids grow has been a huge blessing to me. I am amazed when they recite scripture or re-tell a Bible story… seeing them at this young age “get it” and apply the fundamental things like thankfulness, worship, grace, and faith in their lives is so encouraging to me. I am so blessed to witness that child-like faith firsthand. It is a great reminder to me in my own walk to keep my priorities straight. These kids have an opportunity that was not presented to me when I was their age and it is exciting to see God working in their lives. It helps me to feel hopeful about the future knowing that they are being taught to walk in Truth.
The ministry has also impacted my children’s lives as well. Both my son and daughter enjoy their classes and we talk about what they learn each week. I find my 5 year old singing the worship songs he’s learned while picking up his room or riding his bike. He already knows more about the Bible than I did at his age! My daughter has talked to friends on the playground at school about Jesus and took part in the last Christianity 101 class that was offered. It was in that class that she accepted Christ as her personal Lord and Saviour. As a parent, I am just so thankful that my kids have this type of church program where learning about God is fun, interesting for them and REAL. I feel that this has cemented the foundation that we have tried to build for them that will be the real base of their faith for the rest of their lives.
